I spent the afternoon round at Mohan’s house. Mohan, my motorcycling brother and good
friend, but he does has the unfortunate ability to convince me to do things that may
or may not turn out to be unwise. ;)
The first was luring me back into Motorcycling after a 2 year layoff, by helping me purchase
The Flying Banana (my beloved Suzi SV650) which has turned out to be nothing but a good
thing, despite the costs of all the accessories, and has given me nothing but fun and good
trips.
So when he tried to get me interested in his latest ”obsession” I demurred for a while
due to my perception of the danger involved,
the fact that I haven’t ridden a cycle in over 25 years, and the intimidating cost of doing it
properly.
Not to mention the mandatory Spandex shorts, and the insistence on shaving my legs
(*Not Going To Happen*).
But after constant brainwashing, or polite persuasion depending on your position on these
things, I acceded and allowed Mohan to build me a bike to suit my needs.
He chose the components, and then sweated copiously building it to *his*
exacting requirements.
And I must say the subsequent product is a thing of beauty, gracing my apartment,
and just begging to be ridden.
So, tomorrow, he is taking me on a ”trial” ride of a mere 17km. I expect to want to die at
frequent intervals - usually known as *hills* - but as he insists, ”it is an investment in your
health.”
We shall see. ;)
The photos barely do it justice, but note the way he cunningly matched the red gear cable
to the ”swoosh” on the frame decals.
An artist and engineer at work. Thanks. I’ll say that to him now, before I curse him
as I struggle to relearn how to ride a bike.
They say you never forget - I beg to differ somewhat. ;)
